Cinema Fantasma

Cinema Fantasma is a stop-motion animation studio based in Mexico City, praised by Guillermo del Toro as “creative, free, and full of vitality.” Founded in 2011 by brothers Arturo and Roy Ambriz, the studio began as a makeshift tent on their parents’ rooftop and has grown into one of the most distinctive stop-motion houses working anywhere. Del Toro singled out their passion for animation and their knack for inventing new ways to produce and finance films. The Ambriz brothers write, direct and produce their work, which is known for handmade craft, bold cubist-inspired design and a love of Mexican folklore and history.
